The architectural design equips the facade of the House of Associations: a strong sign in the city. On every floor’s windows there are books for everyone to read and on the façade are hanging books’ pages. After the entrance hall, there is the first floor foyer, space of welcome, meeting and information. From there the visitor goes in the library. It’s an oriented route inside a dark casing, where light is dosed on the book shelfs, so to achieve maximum concentration. Here the visitor can consult, leaf through the books and think, assisted by three migrants. Comune of Milan patronised the project.

Books of architecture are the main source of knowledge for the architect. Without knowledge is impossible to be aware of what has been done and what is been doing outside of our little world. A library needs to be “dynamic”, so to pass on knowledge, suggestion, imagines, thoughts. To do this, it needs to be read. That’s why we brought our library here and opened it up to everyone. So that everyone can appropriate of a “seam” of awareness. Our library contains books and constantly updated magazines of architecture from all over the world. It is another “mirror” of architecture on the world, so to find out what happens elsewhere. The library lives of its books and of the people that read them.
